Palm Harbor Water Disinfection Switch Sept. 21

Palm Harbor water customers will notice a temporary change in their drinking water's smell and taste starting Monday, Sept. 21, 2026. Pinellas County Utilities is temporarily switching its disinfection process from chloramine to chlorine. The change will last through Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026.

This routine maintenance aims to improve water quality and address potential system issues. Residents may detect a slight difference in odor or taste, but water pressure and service continuity will not be affected.

Pinellas County Utilities serves customers in Belleair, Clearwater, Palm Harbor, Pinellas Park and Safety Harbor, all of whom may experience the temporary water change.

The utility assures residents the water will continue to meet all federal and state safety standards.

Kidney dialysis patients should contact their care provider for information regarding chlorine disinfection as a precaution. Fish owners who use chloramine removal systems should not encounter issues. Local pet suppliers can answer questions.
