Babcock Ranch Water Utilities Earns Multiple Top Environmental Awards for Water Reuse and Quality

Babcock Ranch Water Utilities received significant recognition for its water reuse and quality practices, highlighting the community's commitment to sustainability. The Babcock Ranch Water Reclamation Facility (WRF), operated by Town & Country Utilities, earned multiple environmental protection awards for its responsible water management.

These accolades underscore the facility's dedication to maintaining high standards in wastewater treatment and drinking water operations, directly impacting the eco-friendly landscape of America's first solar-powered hometown. Residents benefit from these efforts through the protection of natural habitats and the responsible use of water resources.

The Florida Water Environment Association presented the Babcock Ranch WRF with two prestigious awards in 2019. The facility received the David W. York Award, which honors outstanding water reuse projects across Florida. Additionally, the WRF was granted the Earle B. Phelps Award, recognizing wastewater treatment facilities that achieve the highest removal of pollutants in transforming wastewater into reclaimed water for irrigation purposes.

Prior to these, Babcock Ranch Water Utilities also secured the 2018 Domestic Plant Operations Excellence Award for Drinking Water Plant Operations. The Florida Department of Environment Protection presented this award, acknowledging the utility's excellence in providing safe and high-quality drinking water.
