Palm Tran Ticket Vending Machines Installed at Tri-Rail Stations Across Palm Beach County

Palm Beach County transit riders gained increased convenience with the installation of new Palm Tran ticket vending machines (TVMs) at Tri-Rail stations across the county. The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners approved an agreement with the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) in late 2021 to facilitate the project.

Vice Mayor Robert Weinroth announced the approval of the agreement, which allowed for the placement of the TVMs within SFRTA's existing ticket vending areas. "Convenience for the transit rider is key and this partnership accomplishes that," Weinroth said at the time.

The new machines were installed at five of the six Tri-Rail stations in Palm Beach County. These stations are owned and operated by either SFRTA or the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The Mangolia Park Station, which is on privately-owned property, did not receive a new TVM as part of this initiative.

The installation of these TVMs, completed by the end of 2021, aimed to enhance accessibility for commuters using both Palm Tran and Tri-Rail services. This collaboration between county and regional transportation authorities streamlined the ticketing process for residents relying on public transit.

Residents continue to benefit from the integrated ticketing options, making transfers between bus and rail services more efficient. This initiative remains a key component of the county's efforts to improve public transportation infrastructure.
