The National Weather Service (NWS) Melbourne FL issued a Special Weather Statement at 1:08 PM EDT today, October 2, warning of wind gusts up to 50 mph.
At 1:07 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm over Palm Bay, moving north at 20 mph. This storm poses a hazard of gusty winds that could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
Affected locations include Palm Bay, Melbourne, Malabar, Camp Holly Fish Camp, and Merritt Island. The NWS advises anyone outdoors in these areas to consider seeking shelter inside a building. This Special Weather Statement is effective immediately and expires at 1:45 PM UTC (9:45 AM EDT) today, October 2, 2026.
