High Wind Warning: Secure Loose Objects, Power Outages Expected

A High Wind Warning is in effect for parts of northwest Arizona, southeast California, and southern Nevada from Sunday 5 AM PDT/MST until 8 PM PDT/MST, with 60-70 mph gusts and power outages expected.

A High Wind Warning has been issued for the Northwest Plateau, Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave, Lake Mead (AZ side), Lake Mohave (AZ side), Hualapai Mountains, Northwest Deserts, San Bernardino County-Upper Colorado River Valley, Northeast Clark County, Sheep Range, Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon, Southern Clark County, Lake Mead (NV side), and Lake Mohave (NV side) areas.

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas, NV, issued this warning today, October 10, at 12:36 PM PDT. The warning is in effect from 5 AM PDT /5 AM MST/ on Sunday, October 11, until 8 PM PDT /8 PM MST/ on Sunday, October 11.

South winds are expected to reach 35 to 45 mph with gusts of 60 to 70 mph. Damaging winds are anticipated to blow down trees and power lines, and widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

Residents in affected areas are urged to secure all loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind.
