A Wind Advisory is in effect until Monday, October 12, at 5:00 AM PDT for Southeastern Elko, White Pine, and parts of Nye Counties, with gusts up to 50 mph expected, prompting calls to secure outdoor objects and use caution while driving.
Residents in Southeastern Elko County, White Pine County, and portions of Nye County should prepare for a Wind Advisory now in effect. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Elko has issued the advisory until 5:00 AM PDT on Monday, October 12.
South to southwest winds are expected to reach sustained speeds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 50 mph. These strong winds may cause unsecured outdoor objects to blow around and could lead to downed tree limbs and isolated power outages. Drivers, particularly those operating high-profile vehicles, are advised that driving conditions may be difficult. The NWS also warns of possible blowing dust reducing visibility to one mile or less in some areas this afternoon.
To ensure safety, the NWS recommends securing all outdoor objects. Motorists should use extra caution while driving during this period.
