Freeze Watch for Esmeralda and Central Nye County: Protect Plants and Pipes
A Freeze Watch has been issued for Esmeralda and Central Nye County from late tonight through Tuesday morning, with temperatures as low as 30 degrees possible, requiring residents to protect plants and outdoor plumbing.
Residents in Esmeralda and Central Nye County must take immediate steps to protect tender plants and outdoor plumbing due to a Freeze Watch issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Las Vegas. The alert is effective from late tonight, October 12, through Tuesday morning, October 13.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit are possible. These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
To prevent water pipes from freezing, the NWS advises wrapping them, draining them, or allowing them to drip slowly. Take action now to safeguard against potential damage.
