Residents in Esmeralda and Central Nye Counties should take immediate steps to protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing as a Freeze Warning is in effect until Tuesday, October 13, at 10:00 AM PDT.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Las Vegas has issued this warning due to expected sub-freezing temperatures, potentially dropping as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit.
These conditions pose a risk of killing crops and other sensitive vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing could also be damaged. The warning was issued on October 12 at 11:16 PM PDT.
To mitigate potential damage, the NWS advises taking protective measures now for all tender plants. This includes covering them or bringing them indoors if possible. Checking and insulating outdoor pipes can also prevent significant issues.
