Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Dale County: Act Immediately
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Dale County, including Ozark and Fort Rucker, urging immediate action to seek shelter due to dangerous winds, potential major flooding, and possible tornadoes.
DALE COUNTY, AL – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Dale County, including Ozark and Fort Rucker, effective immediately until 6:15 AM EDT this morning, October 10. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee, FL, issued the warning at 2:07 AM EDT.
Residents are advised to move to safe shelter as soon as possible before hazardous winds begin. Peak wind forecasts are 20-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, but potential for winds of 58 to 73 mph exists, which could cause significant damage to property, including roofing, siding, and mobile homes. Large trees may be snapped or uprooted, potentially rendering roads impassable due to debris. Scattered power and communication outages are also anticipated.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Major rainfall flooding is possible, which may lead to widespread evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries could overflow their banks, and floodwaters may enter structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings immediately. The NWS also indicates a potential for a few tornadoes. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly.
