Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Dale County: Prepare for Severe Wind & Flooding
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Dale County, including Ozark and Fort Rucker, until October 10, 2026, at 7:00 AM UTC, with severe winds, major flooding, and possible tornadoes expected.
DALE, AL – October 9, 2026 – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee, FL has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Dale County, effective immediately and expiring October 10, 2026, at 7:00 AM UTC. This severe weather alert impacts Ozark and Fort Rucker, with residents urged to complete all preparations promptly.
Dangerous winds are expected, with peak forecasts of 25-35 mph and gusts up to 60 mph, and a potential for sustained winds of 58-73 mph. Residents should move to safe shelter before hazardous winds begin. Significant damage to roofing, siding, and outbuildings is possible, along with snapped trees and widespread power outages. Roads may become impassable due to debris.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with potential for major flooding from additional rainfall around 1 inch. Emergency plans should account for major flooding, and evacuations and rescues are likely. Rivers and streams may overflow their banks, leading to flooded structures and impassable roads. Heed all flood watches and warnings immediately.
The NWS also indicates a situation somewhat favorable for a few tornadoes. Residents should be prepared to shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued. Limited impacts are anticipated, but isolated tornadoes can hinder emergency plans and cause localized damage.
