A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Eastern Orleans Parish, including Lake Catherine, by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans as of October 7 at 9:59 PM CDT. Residents in these areas should complete all preparations immediately.

Life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations must be completed before conditions become unsafe. If evacuation orders are issued for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services.

Tropical storm-force winds of 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are possible within the next 36 hours. Protect property now. Potential impacts include damage to lightweight structures, broken tree limbs, some road impassability due to debris, and scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions are expected on bridges and elevated roadways.

Rainfall of 1-3 inches is forecast, with little to no potential for widespread flooding. Tornadoes are not expected. This warning is effective immediately and expires October 8, 2026 at 6:00 AM UTC. For more information, visit gohsep.la.gov/emergency.
