Eastern Orleans Parish, including Lake Catherine, is under a Tropical Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans, effective immediately as of October 9 at 4:12 AM CDT. Residents must take immediate action regarding potential life-threatening storm surge.
A storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible in surge-prone areas through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete. Evacuees must be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. All residents should remain sheltered in a safe location and not venture outside.
While winds are forecast to remain below tropical storm force (25-35 mph with gusts to 50 mph), conditions will be gusty. Little to no additional wind impacts are expected, but officials are currently assessing realized impacts. No additional significant rainfall or tornadoes are expected. Monitor for any changes to the forecast.
