Orlando residents can expect scattered afternoon storms to continue through the weekend, with drier and less humid weather forecast to arrive early next week. A stalled front has influenced Central Florida's weather for several days.
On Friday, the front is expected to lift north, potentially reducing storm coverage. Rain and storm chances remain at 50% to 60%, with the highest likelihood this afternoon and evening. Some stronger storms could produce wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph. While storms generally move quickly, limiting widespread flooding, localized flooding is still possible in areas where storms repeatedly track. High humidity will push afternoon heat indices into the upper 90s to low 100s.
The unsettled pattern continues Saturday and Sunday, with afternoon rain and storm chances increasing to 60% to 70% each day. These storms will generally move from south to north. Similar to Friday, the strongest storms could bring gusty winds of 40 to 50 mph. Daytime temperatures will reach the mid to upper 80s, but high humidity will make it feel hotter, with heat index values potentially reaching the upper 90s to around 105 degrees.
Relief from the persistent humidity and storms arrives early next week. A weak front is forecast to move through Central Florida on Monday, bringing drier air and lower humidity. The majority of next week will be mainly dry, with morning temperatures in the mid-60s to low 70s and afternoon highs in the 80s to near 90 degrees.
