Orlando's major tourism players, including Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, and Visit Orlando, are integrating artificial intelligence into their operations to enhance guest experiences and streamline vacation planning. These new AI tools aim to make trips more efficient for visitors and broaden the reach of tourism companies.
Walt Disney World is currently testing an AI-powered feature designed to simplify vacation planning. Developed in collaboration with Google Cloud, this tool allows guests to describe their desired vacation through a prompt. It then generates a summary that includes ticket prices and hotel rates. The Disney World tool is undergoing testing with randomly selected guests across the U.S. and Canada. Currently, it does not incorporate extras such as Lightning Lanes or dining reservations.
Other major tourism entities in the region have also embraced AI. Last month, Universal Orlando Resort introduced 'UNI,' an AI tool specifically for its travel agency partners. In June, Visit Orlando launched 'OPAL,' its own AI-powered trip planner, to assist visitors in organizing their trips.
Dr. Arthur Huang, an Associate Professor at UCF Rosen College who teaches Smart Travel and Tourism, highlighted the potential benefits of AI in the industry. He explained that AI can make the planning process more efficient for travelers, saving time on inquiries. Dr. Huang also noted that AI helps tourism companies reach broader audiences and enhances their competitiveness in the market.
While Disney has not yet announced a full public rollout date for its new AI feature, these ongoing tests indicate a significant shift towards AI integration across Orlando's tourism sector. Residents can expect to see more AI-driven options emerge as these companies continue to refine and expand their technological offerings.
