Winter Park Chamber Launches 'Generations in the Workplace' Docuseries Featuring Baby Boomer Insights on Work Ethic

The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce has launched a new docuseries, 'Generations in the Workplace,' to help local businesses navigate the complexities of a multi-generational workforce. The series aims to bridge generational gaps by sharing direct perspectives from employees of different age groups.

The first episode, which became available recently, features Baby Boomers Alice Christner, Anthony Diaz, Landra Wormack, and Mercedes McCall. These individuals shared insights into their work ethic, leadership styles, and what loyalty means to them in a professional setting.

Mercedes McCall, who grew up in a family restaurant outside Havana, Cuba, described her upbringing as being "raised pretty much as an adult," which significantly shaped her approach to work. Alice Christner's parents, a school teacher/principal and a salesman, instilled values of hard work and responsibility through household chores and earning money.

The 'Generations in the Workplace' docuseries is a collaboration between the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce and Big Boy Media Group. It will consist of five episodes. The first four episodes focus on individual generations, offering candid discussions about the experiences that influenced their professional lives. The fifth and final episode will bring together representatives from all four generations to discuss the modern workplace and their interactions.

The Chamber, which represents more than 800 member businesses, developed the series in response to ongoing conversations about the challenges of a multi-generational workforce. Understanding the motivations and values of each generation can provide valuable insights for businesses regarding hiring, management, and employee retention.
