Second Harvest Food Bank Job Training Program Orlando
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida launched Career Pathways, a workforce training program that adds customer service instruction to its existing culinary courses.
The culinary program has placed over 535 adults in food service jobs since 2013. Career Pathways offers two tracks: a 10-week culinary program and a new five-week customer service program. Both include training in time management, teamwork, communication, financial literacy, and conflict resolution.
A 2025 survey of 250 job seekers found that 52% struggled to find work despite applying. Employers told the food bank they need workers with customer service skills for entry-level positions across multiple industries.
"By expanding beyond a single industry, we can connect more individuals to quality employment opportunities," said Derrick Chubbs, president and CEO.
Participants receive job coaching for one year after completing the program at no cost. The first customer service cohort begins July 7. The next culinary cohort starts August 3. Applications are open at feedhopenow.org/careerpathways.
