Crenshaw Academy: College & Career Prep for Grades 9-12

Crenshaw Academy's Upper School program for students in grades 9-12 centers on academic rigor and personal development to prepare graduates for college and future careers. The program emphasizes critical thinking, honors coursework and dual enrollment opportunities.

With a 15:1 student-teacher ratio, the academy offers small, seminar-style classes that encourage active student participation. The curriculum aligns with a college preparatory framework, designed to inform, challenge and stimulate students. Core disciplines include mathematics, English and language arts, sciences, social sciences, modern languages, the arts, community service and physical education.

Students can pursue honors courses, independent study and electives that change annually based on student interest and faculty expertise. Past electives have included Forensic Science, Psychology, Film Appreciation and Creative Writing. The school solicits student suggestions for new courses.

Juniors and seniors with a B average or above can participate in the dual enrollment program. These students take classes at local institutions such as Valencia Community College or the University of South Florida, earning college credit and gaining experience before graduation. Students may take an unlimited number of dual enrollment courses per semester, potentially completing a full college load.

The academy also offers a Professional Program with flexible enrollment for Upper School students who have demanding schedules outside of school. This program maintains high academic standards while accommodating unique commitments. Crenshaw Academy graduates have a strong record of university acceptances nationwide, with alumni pursuing careers in diverse fields.
