Orange County Coastal residents are under an Extreme Heat Warning effective immediately, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA. The warning is in effect until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures ranging from the mid-80s to lower 90s along the beaches, and mid to upper 90s near higher coastal terrain. Overnight low temperatures will remain very warm, in the lower to mid-70s.
The NWS advises that heat-related illnesses will significantly increase during this period. Residents are urged to take preventative measures: drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and remain out of direct sunlight. Please check on relatives and neighbors, especially those vulnerable to heat.
Crucially, never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles. Interior car temperatures can reach lethal levels within minutes.
