Crook County is seeking applicants to fill upcoming roles on the Planning Commission. Applications are open for three Planning Commissioner Positions, which carry full terms ending December 31, 2031. The County is also seeking applicants for two pro tem positions, which carry one-year appointments, to serve as alternates during meetings when commissioners are unavailable. Members are expected to attend all regular Planning Commission meetings, currently scheduled for the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month starting at 4:00 p.m., as well as additional or special meetings as scheduled. Organization, Policies and Procedures
The voter-approved Washington County Charter provides for a Council-Manager form of government. The Charter gives the five-member Board of County Commissioners legislative responsibility. The Charter also designates administrative authority to a board-appointed, professional County Administrator. Be the change! Help improve Multnomah County! Apply by Oct. 8 to serve on the next Charter Review Committee | Multnomah County Every six years, Multnomah County residents have an opportunity to change the County’s governing charter — the foundational document for Multnomah County and essentially a local version of the United States Constitution. And that next chance is coming in 2028! To get ready, the County is recruiting members for its next Charter Review Committee, made up of community members who will be tasked with launching a comprehensive study of the charter and then proposing any potential updates for the November 2028 ballot. “This is an incredible opportunity for community members to be directly involved in the ongoing work to improve and modernize Multnomah County so that we are best positioned to represent the values and provide the high quality services our residents expect and deserve,” said Amara Pérez, director of the Office of Community Involvement. Be the Change: Join the Charter Review Committee! The deadline to apply for one of 16 spots on the Charter Review Committee has been extended until Oct. 8, 2026. Recruitment overall has been underway since July 2026. “If you want to make an impact and be the change you want to see in your community, there are few opportunities to be engaged in more meaningful work than that of the Charter Review Committee,” Pérez said. “We encourage anyone with an interest in improving their local community to apply today!” The charter is the County’s primary governance framework and describes its structure, organization and powers. Any proposed changes must be brought before the Board of Commissioners who would then refer changes to voters for final approval. This opportunity to explore and propose changes big and small requires a significant time commitment from committee members. Applicants appointed to the committee should expect to be involved in an approximate 18-month process that involves a regular cadence of meetings, reading reports, studying the current charter, engaging the public, and preparing draft recommendations. This work follows a recent high-profile charter reform process at the City of Portland, where 58% of Portland voters approved changes including a new structure for the Portland City Council. The County’s Charter Review Committee will kick off this important work in February 2027, including a weekend orientation and onboarding retreat. Committee members will present their findings and any proposed amendments to the Board of County Commissioners in 2028. Upcoming Info Sessions The Office of Community Involvement has been leading a series of virtual and in person information sessions where interested community members can learn more about joining the Charter Review Committee. North Clackamas Park and Recreation District Board considers final IGAs with City of Milwaukie
OREGON CITY, Or. — The North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) Board of Directors has placed two intergovernmental agreements (IGA) between the District and the City of Milwaukie on the Board’s Business Meeting agenda, which is set for 10 a.m. Oct. 1. The North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District is a service district governed by the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners. For the last 18 months, the NCPRD Board and staff have been in discussions with the City of Milwaukie Council and staff to update the 2008 Cooperative IGA that governs the relationship between the two parties and finalize an IGA for funding and construction of Milwaukie Bay Park – Phase III. This agenda item follows the NCPRD Board of Directors meeting on Sept. 16, when the Board received recommendations on the IGAs from the NCPRD District Advisory Committee. The NCPRD Board committed to incorporate the District Advisory Committee’s IGA recommendations and finalize the IGAs by the end of September. The NCPRD Board has fulfilled its obligations to the District and community with this action. Interested parties may see the completed IGAs and the full agenda and may watch the discussion live on the Clackamas County YouTube channel.

The Clackamas County Board of County Commissioners will hold two public hearings to consider adopting a temporary moratorium on data center development in unincorporated Clackamas County. The hearings give community members a chance to share their opinions on the potential moratorium and provide concerns and other feedback about data centers. About data centers Data centers are facilities that house computer systems and related equipment used to store, process, and manage digital information. The growth of artificial intelligence and cloud computing is contributing to increased data center development nationwide. Data centers can involve considerations related to land use, energy, water, infrastructure, noise, and other factors. The National Association of Counties (NACo) has developed an informational resource for county officials that provides an overview of data center development and topics counties may consider as they evaluate local regulations. Multnomah County Animal Services, Fred Meyer launch pet food drive to support local animals Offered by Communications Office September 28, 2026 This October, Fred Meyer is partnering with Multnomah County Animal Services to help provide essential supplies for local families and their animals throughout a monthlong “Howl-o-ween” pet food drive. From October 1-31, customers can donate unopened pet food, treats, toys, and other pet care items at all Fred Meyer stores. Donations collected during the drive will directly support animals through the Multnomah County Animal Services Community Shelf, and partnerships with local organizations that support communities in need. “Pets bring so much joy and companionship to our lives and this pet food drive is an opportunity for our customers to make a meaningful difference for animals in need,” said Tiffany Sanders, Fred Meyer communications and public affairs. “Every donation helps support families and their pets in the community.” Multnomah County Animal Services works year-round to reunite lost pets with their families, investigate animal welfare concerns and connect pets with new homes.
