A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Okaloosa Inland, including Crestview and Laurel Hill, effective immediately until 9:15 AM CDT today, October 10. The National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL warns that tropical storm-force winds are expected within the next 36 hours, with peak winds forecast at 30-40 mph and gusts up to 60 mph through the next few hours.
Residents in affected areas should shelter immediately from life-threatening winds. The NWS indicates a potential for winds greater than 110 mph, urging preparations for extreme, Category 3 hurricane-force winds or higher. Focus last-minute efforts solely on protecting life. Be ready to move to the safest place inside your shelter if necessary.
Major flooding from heavy rain is also a significant threat, with potential for extensive impacts including evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings.
