Miami Mourns Guillet Fleurissaint, 92, Haitian Immigrant and Community Pillar

Miami lost a cherished community member with the passing of Guillet Fleurissaint, affectionately known as “Ton-Guillet,” who died on August 24, 2026, at the age of 92. Fleurissaint, a Haitian immigrant, built a life marked by faith, perseverance, and an unwavering devotion to his family, leaving a lasting legacy for those who knew him.

Born on March 8, 1934, in Baie-des-Moustiques, Haiti, Fleurissaint received his education from National de la Baie-des-Moustiques. In 1959, at 25, he made the courageous decision to migrate to The Bahamas in pursuit of greater opportunities. There, in 1962, he met Anita Paul, who became his devoted life partner for more than six decades. While in The Bahamas, Fleurissaint worked in the transportation industry, providing for his family there and supporting loved ones back in Haiti.

In 1982, Fleurissaint moved to Miami, Florida, to continue building a new life. He worked at Don Shula Golf Course, demonstrating the strong work ethic that defined his life, before retiring at 65. His journey from Haiti to The Bahamas and finally to Miami exemplified courage, determination, and sacrifice.

Fleurissaint's legacy continues through his daughter, Mariette F. Louis, born in 1965 to Olimpcia Louis. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Danielle Louis and Charles Appolon, and his great-grandchild, Brysen Louis. His living siblings include Choisilia F. William and Euphemie Fleurissaint. His aunt, Marguerite Acelie Pierre, known as 'Ti sè,' is reportedly still living at the remarkable age of 104.

Fleurissaint's life story is a testament to the enduring impact of family devotion and community support, touching many lives across generations and continents.
