North Port Curbside Collection Guidelines Reminder

North Port residents, remember your regular curbside collection days for garbage, recyclables and yard trimmings. Charlotte County offers single-stream recycling, allowing you to mix all accepted recyclables in your cart.

Accepted recyclables include junk mail, steel and aluminum cans, cartons (empty), plastic containers (codes 1-7, empty), glass (clear, brown, green), magazines, cardboard, paperboard and newspapers. Do not place toys, food, yard waste, pool covers, coat hangers, foam products, electronics, hazardous materials, plastic bags, medical waste, extension cords or Christmas lights in recycling carts.

For yard trimmings, place them loose in an extra garbage can, a paper lawn and leaf bag or in tied bundles. Do not place yard trimmings in plastic bags. Limbs should not exceed six feet in length or ten inches in diameter. Loose yard trimmings will not be collected if they weigh more than 40 pounds each.

Bulk item pickup accommodates up to 4 cubic yards of unbundled yard trimmings, refuse or bulky items weekly. The county will not collect waste exceeding this limit or placed on adjacent property; residents must remove it within 24 hours.

Special collections are available. Residents can schedule appliance pickups, called white goods, four times a year on their scheduled service day at no charge. Call Waste Management at 941.629.1106 or 941.697.0012 at least two days prior and remove appliance doors.

Household hazardous waste, including motor oil, filters and non-leaking lead-acid batteries, can be collected on scheduled service days if placed at least 5 feet from garbage carts. Tires are accepted for curbside recycling, up to six passenger tires annually on recycling day.

Electronics, or e-waste, require a pickup request. Call Waste Management two days prior to your regularly scheduled service day.
