Airbnb.org Partners with 211 Miami and Volunteer Florida for Free Disaster Housing in Miami-Dade and Monroe

North Miami residents now have an additional resource for emergency housing following disasters. Airbnb.org officially partnered with 211 Miami, United Way of Miami-Dade, and Volunteer Florida to provide free, temporary housing for individuals displaced by emergencies in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.

This new collaboration aims to connect displaced residents with available housing through Airbnb.org's platform. 211 Miami will serve as the primary referral agency, linking those in need with hosts who have opted to open their homes for free. This partnership strengthens South Florida's preparedness for future hurricane seasons and other potential emergencies.

Airbnb.org has a history of activating its network during crises. Since its inception in 2012, the organization has provided emergency housing over 300 times globally, assisting more than 200,000 people. Homeowners on the Airbnb platform can choose to host disaster victims for free, receiving support from Airbnb.org for issues such as property damage insurance and booking assistance.

The partnership, announced last month, builds on existing community support structures. It provides a direct channel for those affected by disasters to find immediate, safe shelter, leveraging both the established community outreach of 211 Miami and the housing network of Airbnb.org.

Residents can contact 211 Miami for assistance if a disaster displaces them. The organization will then facilitate connections with available housing options through the Airbnb.org program.
