Aventura parents gained crucial tools to combat bullying and cyberbullying at a workshop held on Friday, October 2. Florida International University (FIU), in collaboration with the Aventura City of Excellence School (ACES) and The Children’s Trust Parent Club, hosted the session, which was designed to equip parents with effective strategies for supporting their children's growth and development.
The workshop provided practical guidance on identifying, dealing with, and preventing bullying, including recognizing distinct male and female bullying styles. Parents also learned to spot the signs of cyberbullying, understand its risk factors and consequences, and implement prevention methods. The session covered how to help children who experience bullying and what steps to take if a child is involved in bullying others.
The workshop began promptly at 9:00 a.m. in the ACES Middle School Cafeteria. Attending the entire workshop offered parents the opportunity to earn two volunteer hours, with no Safe Schools training required for participation. This initiative aimed to reduce parenting stress by providing actionable insights into these prevalent issues affecting young people.
Parents interested in attending were required to RSVP to secure their spot. The collaborative effort between FIU's Center for Children and Families, ACES, and The Children's Trust Parent Club underscored a community-wide commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for Aventura's youth. This workshop was part of an ongoing series focused on various aspects of child development and parenting.
