Chesapeake Man Arrested in Downtown Norfolk Abduction Attempts
Norfolk Police arrested James R. Davis, 47, of Chesapeake on June 6 in connection with two attempted abductions in Downtown Norfolk earlier this month.
Davis faces charges of abduction, robbery, brandishing a firearm, attempted malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm, and possession or transportation of firearms. He is held without bond at Norfolk City Jail.
Officers responded to the 200 block of Yarmouth Street on June 4 at 1:10 p.m. after a woman reported that a man approached her while she walked in the area. Ten minutes later, a second woman called police with a similar report from the Downtown Norfolk neighborhood.
Detectives linked the incidents and identified Davis as a suspect. Police arrested him two days later. Neither incident resulted in injuries.
Norfolk Police encourage residents to register their security cameras with Connect Norfolk, a program that allows investigators to access footage during active cases and searches for missing persons.
