Mayor's Office Internship Opportunities (PAID) - Summer 2026 Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP) The Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP) provides high school students in grades 10 through 12 with a unique opportunity to gain valuable, real-world work experience through a paid, five-week internship during the summer, usually from July through August. SYIP interns are only allowed to work 150 hrs. over the 5-week internship period. Open to eligible Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) students that are rising 10th-12th graders (ages 15–18), this program helps young people build professional skills, explore career paths, and connect with mentors in their community. Offered in partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) and supported by dedicated partners such as The Children’s Trust, CareerSource South Florida, the Educational Federal Credit Union (EdFed), among others, SYIP is a powerful example of how public-private partnerships can positively impact youth development. We are proud to continue our commitment to empowering the next generation through meaningful, hands-on learning experiences each summer. For the past decade, Miami-Dade County has proudly supported SYIP, offering more than 50 internship opportunities across various departments each summer. Local Farmers' Markets
Panama City Farmers' Market The Panama City Farmers' Market brings the community together every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Historic Downtown Panama City. Featuring more than 100 vendors, the Market offers fresh local produce, farm-raised meats, honey, baked goods, artisan foods, handmade crafts, and more, making it a popular destination for residents and visitors to shop local and support local businesses. To accommodate the Market's continued growth, the Panama City Commission voted unanimously on March 10, 2026, to designate Harrison Avenue as the Market's permanent home following its temporary relocation from McKenzie Park during park construction. Keeping the Market on Harrison Avenue also allows McKenzie Park to remain available for other community events and activities on Saturdays. Throughout 2026, the Market will rotate between two sections of Harrison Avenue: March 14 – June 27: 4th Street to 6th Street July 1 – September 30: 4th Street to Beach Drive October 1 – December 31: 4th Street to 6th Street The rotating schedule is designed to support the Market's continued success while providing opportunities throughout downtown. Our team is responsible for administering, coordinating, and supporting citywide grant management and compliance activities. Niceville bids farewell to Nell Parker, 88
"Nell Parker, age 88, of Niceville, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2024. She was born in Crestview, Florida, on September 1, 1935, to the late John and Nellie Mae Stokes. Nell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a cherished member of the Niceville community for many years. She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Robert Parker; her children, Susan (David) Smith, Michael (Jennifer) Parker; her grandchildren, Emily (Chris) Jones, Matthew Smith, Sarah Parker, and Daniel Parker; and her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Liam Jones. Nell was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Ann Stokes. A visitation will be held on February 22, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home, with interment at Heritage Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Niceville Community Fund in Nell's memory."
