Workers' Center Announces 3rd Annual Warrant Clinic, Free Legal Help for New Orleanians Facing Municipal Warrants and Suspended Licenses

NEW ORLEANS — The Workers' Center of Greater New Orleans today announced its 3rd annual Warrant Clinic, offering free legal assistance to New Orleanians dealing with municipal warrants and suspended driver’s licenses. The clinic is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the McDonogh 35 High School Alumni Association Building (4000 Cadillac St.). Appointments are required and can be made by calling (504) 272-0498. “The Workers' Center of Greater New Orleans is focused on empowering low-wage workers and fighting for racial and economic justice,” said Executive Director Ursula Price. “Unpaid municipal fines, especially for minor traffic offenses, can quickly escalate into warrants and suspended licenses, trapping people in a cycle of poverty. Our Warrant Clinic provides a critical service, helping residents resolve these issues without having to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars in legal fees and court costs.” The clinic will provide: Legal consultations with volunteer attorneys. Assistance in identifying and clearing municipal warrants (e.g., for traffic violations, parking tickets, nuisance violations). Guidance on the process of reinstating suspended driver’s licenses. Information on options for reducing or waiving fines and fees. “We understand the immense burden these warrants and suspended licenses place on individuals and families,” said Clinic Coordinator Sarah Jenkins. “They can prevent people from working, accessing essential services, and generally participating in community life. Our goal is to remove these barriers and help New Orleanians move forward.” The Workers' Center encourages anyone with outstanding municipal warrants or suspended licenses to call and schedule an appointment as soon as possible, as space is limited. Attendees should bring any relevant documents, such as summons, tickets, or court notices. This initiative is made possible by the dedicated efforts of volunteer attorneys, paralegals, and community organizers, in partnership with several local legal aid organizations.
