Wind Advisory Issued for Blue Ridge: Gusts Up To 50 MPH Expected
A Wind Advisory is in effect for Central and Northern Virginia Blue Ridge counties from 2 AM to 11 AM EDT Sunday, with gusts up to 50 mph expected; secure loose items and drive with caution.
Residents in the Central Virginia Blue Ridge and Northern Virginia Blue Ridge counties should prepare for strong winds starting early Sunday morning. A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Baltimore MD/Washington DC, effective from 2 AM to 11 AM EDT on Sunday, October 11.
East winds are expected to reach 20 to 25 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 50 mph. These conditions can blow around unsecured objects and may lead to downed tree limbs. Isolated power outages are also possible due to the strong gusts.
The NWS advises extra caution, especially for drivers of high-profile vehicles, as strong winds can make driving difficult. Secure loose outdoor items now to prevent damage or injury.
