A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Northern Virginia Blue Ridge and Central Virginia Blue Ridge areas, effective from 2 AM to 11 AM EDT Sunday, October 11. The National Weather Service (NWS) Baltimore MD/Washington DC issued the advisory today, October 10, at 3:02 PM EDT.

East winds are expected to reach 20 to 25 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 50 mph. These strong winds can make driving challenging, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Residents should use extra caution when traveling during this period.

The NWS warns that gusty winds may blow around unsecured outdoor objects. There is also a risk of tree limbs being blown down, which could lead to isolated power outages. Secure any outdoor items that could be impacted by strong winds.

This advisory applies specifically to counties within the Central Virginia Blue Ridge and Northern Virginia Blue Ridge regions. The advisory is currently in effect and expires at 11:15 PM UTC today, though the wind event itself is forecast for Sunday morning.
