Rip Current Statement Issued for Coastal Areas Until Friday Morning

A Rip Current Statement has been issued for coastal areas of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, warning of dangerous conditions until Friday morning.

Staff Writer
10/10/2026 · Nassau County edition

A Rip Current Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, FL, for several coastal areas, effective immediately until Friday, October 11, at 6:00 AM EDT.

Residents and visitors in Coastal Nassau, Coastal Flagler, Northeast Coastal St. Johns, Southeast Coastal St. Johns, Coastal Glynn, and Coastal Camden counties are advised of dangerous rip currents. These conditions can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

If you plan to enter the water, swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, the National Weather Service advises relaxing and floating. Do not attempt to swim against the current. If possible, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If you are unable to escape the current, face the shore and call or wave for help.
