Myakka City Actress Constance Zimmer's Breast Cancer Journey

Myakka City resident and actress Constance Zimmer shared her breast cancer diagnosis and recovery on social media Sunday, Oct. 5, coinciding with the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Zimmer, known for her role in the FX series 'Love Story,' revealed she received a diagnosis of DCIS, or Stage 0 breast cancer, on March 13. She kept the news private while promoting 'Love Story,' which premiered Feb. 12, weeks before her diagnosis.

The actress underwent three surgeries over three consecutive weeks to preserve her breast. She then completed radiation treatment while also receiving an Emmy nomination for her work on 'Love Story.'

Zimmer announced she is cancer-free, calling the experience 'one hell of a ride.' Her candid sharing aims to offer hope to others facing similar health battles.
