224th Street Highway 3 Improvement Project Hastings
224th Street/Highway 3 Improvement Project Underway in Hastings
Hastings residents will see significant upgrades to key roadways as the 224th Street/Highway 3 Improvement Project moves forward. This initiative aims to enhance traffic flow and pedestrian safety in the area.
The project focuses on two main sections. Improvements will cover 224th Street, also known as County Highway 66, stretching from just west of Dodd Boulevard (County Highway 9) to the BNSF Railway crossing. Additionally, State Highway 3 will see upgrades from 224th Street north to 220th Street.
Planned improvements include increasing the roadway to four lanes, a change designed to accommodate more traffic and reduce congestion. A new center median will also be constructed, which often improves safety by separating opposing lanes of traffic. For pedestrians, the project includes the construction of an underpass, providing a safer way to cross these busy thoroughfares.
Dakota County is coordinating this project to ensure the best possible improvements for the Hastings community. Further updates on the project's progress will be shared as they become available.
