Overflowing Trash Pickup
As a reminder for City trash service, we generally require that all trash be placed IN the trash container in order to be picked up, and occasionally we give some room for exceptions, such as around Christmas time. Now that the season of giving is a few weeks behind us, we will not be picking up all the excess boxes and bags next to the containers - so don't be surprised (or bitter) if some of your refuse is refused by our solid waste crews. Once your container(s) is emptied, if you want to fill it with the excess garbage for the week and have an additional pickup, you can contact City Hall (970.842.5001) to arrange that for an additional pickup fee of $8.One of the major culprits that takes up significant space in the containers and being placed next to containers are cardboard boxes. So, if you weren't aware, we do have free recycling bins for cardboard, as well as glass and single stream (no glass here, please!), across from City hall, next to the Post Office in the 100 block of Carson Street. Break them down as needed, put them in the appropriate bins, and voila - you've done your part in helping in the matter! You can also purchase a recycling bin from City Hall, and take care of that at home (with the exception of glass). For more info on trash and recycling, here is our webpage: https://www.brushcolo.com/your_city/departments/public_works/trash_recycling.php(Note: For the sake not public shaming anyone in town, we used a non-Brush image as an example for this announcement - but we know many of you see what is happening on the edge of the road in front of homes...)
