Residents in northwestern Washington County, Alabama, including Chatom and Fruitdale, must seek immediate shelter. The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning effective until 8:00 PM CDT tonight, September 21st.

At 7:03 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 6 miles north of Chatom, moving southwest at 30 mph. This storm is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Radar indicates these hazards.

Expected impacts include hail damage to vehicles, and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. This warning affects areas including Chatom and Fruitdale.
