A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Grand Forks, indicating near critical fire weather conditions for much of the region this afternoon, Friday, October 10.

Residents in Clay, Hubbard, West Becker, East Becker, Wilkin, West Otter Tail, East Otter Tail, Wadena, and Grant counties should be aware of dry, breezy, and unseasonably warm conditions that could lead to the rapid spread of fires. South winds are forecast at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, alongside minimum relative humidity values below 35 percent.

This alert is effective from 2:52 AM CDT today, October 10, and expires at 7:00 PM CDT. Before any burning, check current restrictions and fire danger ratings. For more information on burning restrictions in Minnesota, visit www.dnr.state.mn.us/forestry/fire/firerating_restrictions.html.
