U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Sanel Velic, assigned to the 133rd Communications Flight, Minnesota Air National Guard, opens the panel containing the generator on a statewide military communication system near Moorhead, Minn. The Joint Communications Platform allows both Army National Guard and Air National Guard members to communicate live with information about the flooding.

"The crack passenger train, Empire Builder, bound from Seattle to Chicago, wasstruck by a tornado. The train was traveling nearly 60 miles an hour whenstruck. Only the 136-ton locomotive remained on the track."
