Tropical Storm Warning for Coastal Jefferson: Prepare for Severe Weather
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Coastal Jefferson County, with residents urged to prepare for life-threatening storm surge, major flooding, and several tornadoes, according to the NWS.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Coastal Jefferson County by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective October 9 at 10:57 PM EDT. Residents are urged to take immediate action regarding potential life-threatening storm surge, major flooding rain, and several tornadoes.
A life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete. Evacuees must be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Remain sheltered in a safe location and do not venture outside.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 2-4 inches of rain, and locally higher amounts, expected. Major rainfall flooding may prompt evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings. Failure to take action will likely result in serious injury or loss of life.
A Tornado Watch is also in effect, indicating conditions are favorable for several tornadoes. While the tornado threat has decreased, plans should still include the potential for tornadoes. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly. The warning is set to expire on October 10, 2026, at 7:00 AM UTC.
