A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Inland Jefferson, including Monticello and Wacissa, effective immediately until October 10 at 7:00 AM UTC. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee, FL, warns of severe conditions, with an increased threat of extreme flooding rain and the potential for several tornadoes.
Residents should act now to complete preparations for hazardous winds, which are forecast to be 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, with a potential for 39 to 57 mph. Limited damage to property and power outages are possible. Efforts to protect property should be underway.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with additional rainfall of 2-4 inches expected, and locally higher amounts possible. This could lead to devastating to catastrophic flooding, prompting numerous evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to take action could result in serious injury or loss of life.
A Tornado Watch is also in effect. Several tornadoes are possible, with a few potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued.
