Tropical Storm Warning for Coastal Jefferson: Evacuate if Ordered
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Coastal Jefferson County, issued by NWS Tallahassee FL. Residents should complete evacuations and flood preparations immediately due to life-threatening storm surge, significant flooding rain, and an increased tornado threat. Follow official instructions.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Coastal Jefferson County, effective immediately from the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL. Residents are advised to complete all evacuation and flood preparations now, as life-threatening storm surge and significant flooding rain are expected.
The NWS forecasts a potential for 4-6 feet above ground of peak storm surge inundation, with a window of concern from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation orders, if issued for your area, should be followed immediately to ensure safety and avoid being cut off from emergency services. Areas of inundation with storm surge flooding accentuated by waves are possible, potentially damaging buildings and weakening near-shore escape routes.
An additional 2-4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, is expected. A Flood Watch is in effect, and residents in flood-vulnerable areas should consider protective actions. Rivers and tributaries may become swollen, and localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible, making driving hazardous.
The tornado threat has increased. A situation favorable for several tornadoes exists. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly. While sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force (10-20 mph with gusts to 30 mph), conditions may still be gusty.

This warning is effective until October 8, 2026, at 1:15 PM UTC.
