A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Inland Jefferson, including Monticello and Wacissa, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective October 8 at 11:06 AM EDT. This means tropical storm-force winds are possible within the next 48 hours. The watch is set to expire on October 8 at 7:15 PM UTC.

Residents should act now to complete preparations before hazardous winds begin. Peak wind forecasts are 10-15 mph with gusts to 30 mph, but potential impacts include winds of 39 to 57 mph. Prepare for limited wind damage, including damage to lightweight structures and numerous broken tree limbs. Scattered power and communications outages are possible.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Additional rainfall of 1-3 inches is expected, with locally higher amounts. Emergency plans should account for moderate flooding, which may prompt evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings. The NWS also indicates a favorable situation for several tornadoes, with some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should seek safe shelter before hazardous weather arrives. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly.
