A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Coastal Jefferson County, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL on October 8 at 11:05 PM EDT. This warning indicates severe conditions with immediate urgency, effective until October 9, 2026, at 7:15 AM UTC.

Coastal Jefferson County residents should prepare for life-threatening storm surge of 4-6 feet above ground through Saturday morning. Evacuation and flood preparations should be completed immediately. Major flooding from heavy rain is expected, with an additional 6-10 inches possible. Evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.

While sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force (10-20 mph with gusts to 35 mph), there is a potential for winds of 39 to 57 mph. Additionally, a favorable situation exists for several tornadoes. Be ready to shelter quickly if a tornado warning is issued.
