Heat Advisory Issued for Bay Area: Extreme Temperatures Expected
A Heat Advisory is in effect for the Bay Area from October 3-5, 2026, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-90s to low-100s. Residents are urged to hydrate, limit outdoor activity, and never leave children or pets in cars.
Residents across the San Francisco Bay Area are advised to prepare for dangerously hot conditions as a Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco CA. The advisory is effective from 11 AM today, October 3, 2026, until 10 PM PDT on Monday, October 5, 2026.
Maximum temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s to low-100s, with mild overnight temperatures limiting relief. This heat will impact the Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay Interior Mountains and Valleys, San Francisco Bay Shoreline, East Bay Interior Valleys, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Clara Valley (including San Jose), Eastern Santa Clara Hills, East Bay Hills, Southern Salinas Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest, and Mountains of San Benito County and Interior Monterey County (including Pinnacles National Park.
This level of heat can affect anyone without effective cooling or adequate hydration. The NWS recommends taking extra precautions when outdoors. Drink plenty of water and wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing. Limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. Stay vigilant for symptoms of heat exhaustion and/or heat stroke and take immediate action if they occur.
Crucially, never leave young children or pets unattended in vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly. Consider checking on vulnerable individuals who may need assistance with hydration.
