A Heat Advisory has been issued for a wide range of Bay Area locations, effective immediately until Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 10:00 PM PDT, with temperatures up to 105 degrees expected; residents should prioritize hydration and limit strenuous outdoor activity.
A Heat Advisory has been issued for numerous Bay Area regions, urging residents to take immediate precautions against dangerously hot conditions. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco CA, is effective immediately, October 7, 2026, at 10:15 PM PDT and will remain in effect until 10:00 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
Maximum temperatures are forecast to reach the mid-90s to near 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Mild minimum temperatures and weak onshore flow will limit overnight relief, creating a prolonged period of heat stress.
Areas affected include the Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay Interior Mountains, North Bay Interior Valleys, San Francisco Bay Shoreline, East Bay Interior Valleys, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Clara Valley Including San Jose, Eastern Santa Clara Hills, East Bay Hills, Southern Salinas Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest, and Mountains of San Benito County and Interior Monterey County Including Pinnacles National Park.
This level of heat can affect anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration, and impacts are likely in some health systems, heat-sensitive industries, and infrastructure. The NWS emphasizes that hydration is critical. Residents should drink water regularly and consider providing water to vulnerable individuals.
When outdoors, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. It is crucial to take immediate action if you experience symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
