Heat Advisory Issued: Temperatures Up To 98°F Through Thursday Night
A Heat Advisory is in effect for multiple Bay Area and Central Coast regions until Thursday night, with temperatures expected to reach up to 98°F; residents should prioritize hydration and limit strenuous outdoor activities.
Residents across the Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay, East Bay, Santa Clara Valley, Santa Cruz Mountains, and parts of Monterey and San Benito Counties are advised to take immediate precautions as a Heat Advisory is in effect until 10:00 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco CA issued the advisory due to expected temperatures reaching up to 98 degrees Fahrenheit.
The affected areas include the North Bay Interior Mountains, North Bay Interior Valleys, San Francisco Bay Shoreline, East Bay Interior Valleys, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Clara Valley (including San Jose), Eastern Santa Clara Hills, East Bay Hills, Southern Salinas Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest, and Mountains of San Benito County and Interior Monterey County (including Pinnacles National Park).
This level of heat can significantly impact individuals without effective cooling or adequate hydration. The NWS stresses the importance of hydration. Drink plenty of water and, if possible, check on vulnerable individuals to ensure they have access to water. When outdoors, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing and limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. Be aware of the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and take immediate action if they occur.
