Mail Addressed to the Deceased - How to Stop or Forward Mail

Mail Addressed to the Deceased - How to Stop or Forward Mail After loved ones pass, you can stop mail from being sent to their addresses. Learn how to file a proper request at the Post Office to redirect their mail or remove them from advertising lists. Advertising – Do Not Contact List The Data & Marketing Association maintains a Deceased Do Not Contact List (DDNC). Within 3 months of registering the deceased's name with DDNC, advertising mail should decrease. Register on DMAchoice.org If You Shared an Address If you shared a mailing address with someone who has died and continue to receive that mail, you have several options: - You may open and manage the deceased's mail as needed. - You may forward all of the deceased's mail to a different address. - You may forward a single piece of mail, for example, to an appointed executor, without going to a Post Office location. To forward the single mailpiece: Neatly cross out your address. Print "Forward to" and the new address on the front of the envelope. Leave the envelope in your mailbox for carrier pickup, drop it off in a blue collection box, or take it to a Post Office lobby drop. If You Have a Different Address To forward the deceased's mail to yourself or to a different address, you must go to a Post Office location to submit a change of address request. You will need to: Provide documented proof that you are the appointed executor or administrator authorized to manage the deceased's mail (Simply having their death certificate is not enough). Complete a change of address request in person.

Community Survey: Neighborhood Intersection Traffic & Pedestrian Upgrades

Community Survey: Neighborhood Intersection Traffic & Pedestrian Upgrades The Village of Larchmont completed its Safety Action Plan in June 2025, funded by the USDOT Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. Safety improvements for pedestrians, bicyclists, and vehicles throughout the Village were identified as part of the Safety Action Plan for implementation and further grant funding. The Village is seeking feedback from residents on the following project as part of an application for the Westchester County Complete Streets grant program. Larchmont Neighborhood Intersection Pedestrian Upgrades This project includes upgrades for the intersections of Palmer Avenue/Parkway and Monroe Avenue/Lyons Place/Locust Avenue/Clark Court to provide safer pedestrian access, improved visibility, and reduced conflict points. These intersections today are difficult to maneuver for vehicles in part due to complex vehicle turns and obstructed sight lines, as well for as pedestrians who have limited crossing opportunities and low visibility to vehicles. Proposed improvements to tackle these issues include: Palmer Avenue/Parkway Improvements to and relocation of pedestrian crossing to provide a safer crosswalk Installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps for accessibility Creation of a T-intersection at the westernmost point possible to avoid conflict with West Avenue Removal of the Parkway right turn slip lane onto Palmer Avenue and concrete islands to reduce vehicle speeds Creation of a small pedestrian plaza for pedestrian access as part of the slip lane closure Improved lighting for the crosswalk relocation Monroe Avenue/Lyons Place/Locust Avenue/Clark Court Improvements to Monroe Avenue crossing including restriping and ADA-compliant curb ramps Installation of a new crosswalk crossing Clark Court, including ADA-compliant curb ramps Improved intersection lighting for nighttime pedestrian visibility Removal of the Locust Avenue right turn slip lane Creation of a small pedestrian plaza for pedestrian access as part of the slip lane closure Separation of the single, complex intersection to two intersections: Monroe Avenue/Clark Court and Locust Avenue/Lyons Place Installation of new stop signs between Locust Avenue and Monroe Avenue Maintenance of clear sight lines at the intersection, including between Monroe Avenue and Locust Avenue Extension of the curb line at the Locust Avenue/Lyons Place intersection to slow turning vehicles Please submit your feedback at www.larchmontny.gov/CompleteStreetsSurvey The Village of Larchmont continues to pursue additional grant funding sources, including for improvements along Larchmont Avenue, Chatsworth Avenue, Vanderburgh Avenue, Palmer Avenue, and residential streets throughout the Village. We appreciate your help to make Larchmont a safer place for all.
