URGENT: Life-Threatening Storm Surge, Hurricane Winds Imminent for Mobile Coastal

A Storm Surge Warning and Hurricane Warning are in effect for Mobile Coastal areas, including Grand Bay, Dauphin Island, and Bayou La Batre, with life-threatening storm surge and hurricane-force winds expected starting Friday.

MOBILE COASTAL – A Storm Surge Warning and Hurricane Warning are in effect for Mobile Coastal areas, including Grand Bay, Dauphin Island, and Bayou La Batre. The National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile, AL, issued the warning today, October 7, at 9:53 PM CDT, indicating immediate and extreme danger.

Life-threatening storm surge of 4-7 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts should be completed immediately. Hurricane-force winds between 74 to 110 mph are expected from Friday afternoon until early Saturday morning, with peak gusts up to 75 mph. Residents must complete preparations now to protect life and property, as considerable damage is expected.

Significant rainfall of 3-6 inches, with localized higher amounts, could lead to major flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Isolated tornadoes are also possible. Power outages and communication disruptions are highly likely.
