A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Mobile Coastal, including Grand Bay, Dauphin Island, and Bayou La Batre, effective immediately following an alert from the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL at 4:07 AM CDT on October 9. This alert, designated 'Extreme' in severity, requires immediate action from residents.

Life-threatening storm surge of 3 to 5 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Residents in surge-prone areas should shelter in place, as flood preparations and ordered evacuations should already be complete. Do not venture outside. Potential impacts include major rainfall flooding that may prompt evacuations and rescues, with rivers overflowing and many structures experiencing flooding. Additional rainfall of 1-3 inches is expected, with localized higher amounts.

Dangerous winds are also anticipated, with peak gusts of 35-45 mph and possible gusts up to 75 mph. Tropical Storm force winds are expected from early this afternoon until early Saturday morning. Significant wind damage is possible, including damage to roofing, siding, and mobile homes, along with downed trees and power outages. Residents should move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. For evacuation and shelter information, contact Mobile County EMA at 251-460-8000 or visit mobilecountyema.gov.
