Rip Current Statement Issued: Dangerous Conditions Through Saturday Night

A Rip Current Statement is in effect for Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa coastal counties through late Saturday night, warning of dangerous rip currents.

Coastal residents and visitors in Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa Counties are advised of a Rip Current Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL. This statement is effective immediately, October 7, 2026, at 11:37 AM CDT, and remains in effect through late Saturday night.

Dangerous rip currents are expected along the coasts of Alabama (Mobile Coastal and Baldwin Coastal Counties) and Florida (Escambia Coastal, Santa Rosa Coastal, and Okaloosa Coastal Counties). Rip currents can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water, posing a significant hazard.

The NWS provides critical safety instructions: If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Do not swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. Whenever possible, swim near a lifeguard.
