Brenda Brown Wins Library Media Specialist Award

Brenda Brown, media specialist at Lakeview Primary School, won the 2026 Central Georgia Region Library Media Specialist of the Year award from the Georgia Library Media Association.

Brown received the honor at the GLMA Summer Institute, where library media specialists gathered to recognize excellence in school library programs. The award recognizes specialists who build student-centered media programs, collaborate with teachers and cultivate reading and learning.

At Lakeview Primary, Brown works with young students to develop reading skills and foster curiosity. Each school district nominates one specialist for the award; the GLMA then selects one regional winner from those nominees. The Central Georgia region covers Baldwin, Hancock, Johnson, Putnam, Washington, and Wilkinson counties.
