Drivers in multiple Eastern Kentucky counties should exercise extreme caution this morning due to developing dense fog. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, KY, has issued a Special Weather Statement effective immediately, October 12, 2026, at 6:20 AM EDT, warning of reduced visibility.

The affected counties include Fleming, Montgomery, Bath, Rowan, Powell, Menifee, Whitley, Knox, Bell, Morgan, Wolfe, Lee, Breathitt, Owsley, Perry, Clay, and Leslie. As low clouds clear, areas of fog are forming, with some locations experiencing visibility of a quarter mile or less.

Motorists are advised to use low beam headlights, slow down, and maintain ample distance between vehicles. The NWS expects the fog to begin dissipating in most areas by 10:00 AM EDT. The Special Weather Statement will expire at 10:00 AM EDT today.
